This half-day symposium focused on Lewy body dementia (LBD) caregiving. There were two expert speakers -- Stanford's Dr. Kathleen Poston and social worker Christina Irving -- followed by a panel of LBD caregivers. Dr. Poston provided an overview of Lewy body dementia, while Ms. Irving described the challenges in communication with those with LBD. The five LBD caregiver panelists addressed hallucinations, the need for support, in-home care, care facility placement, etc.
The symposium was recorded. And a writer with Stanford Parkinson's Community Outreach attended and took notes. See the agenda.
Below, you will find:
- slides from Dr. Poston's and Ms. Irving's presentations
- recordings of the presentations (including questions-and-answers) and the panel
- notes from event
- Lewy body dementia resources
- Lewy body dementia quiz
- Evaluation. If you attended and didn't complete the short evaluation, or if you are watching any of the recordings now, please share your feedback.
A big THANK YOU to the speakers, panelists, event staff from Stanford and Brain Support Network, volunteers from Brain Support Network, all the attendees, and those who purchased "scholarship" tickets so that those with a financial need could attend. Without their generosity, this symposium would not have been possible.
